Matthijs Maas was as a GCRI Junior Associate during 2016-2018. He contributed to GCRI research on AI governance and international security and also contributed to the monitoring of current events related to global catastrophic risk. He was also a PhD Fellow in Law and Policy on Global Catastrophic and Existential Threats at the University of Copenhagen’s Centre for International Law, Conflict and Crisis (CILCC). He previously received an M.Sc. in International Relations from the University of Edinburgh and a B.A. in Liberal Arts & Sciences from University College Utrecht.
